Sisterly relationships

Is there any YA literature you enjoy in which sisters play a strong or leading role? I'm in a bit of a historical mood at the moment, but I'm not too fussy about genre to be honest - it's well-drawn relationships I'm interested in.

Young Wizards by Diane Duane is a fantasy series (still on going - I forget how many books there are so far) that might fit this. However, the younger sister really doesn't start playing a huge role until the third book, but she does have appearances in all of the books. They don't work as a team precisely and sometimes they're antagonistic to each other, but they do really love each other in their own ways. The first book of the series is So You Want To Be a Wizard.

(The other main character is the elder sister's partner in magic.)

I know this is a slightly late reply, but you might enjoy Stephanie Burgis' Kat, Incorrigible (US) / A Most Improper Magick (UK) (different titles for the same book). It's a Regency-era YA book, first in a trilogy, in which the relationships between the sisters is really important.
