asexual fantasy & social demons

I'm looking for two things.

One, fantasy with no/very little romance.

Two, stories involving societies having 'pet' demons/etc. for whatever reason. I don't want individuals dealing with demons for individual reasons, I want whole towns or affluent families who keep demons over the generations for the good of their society.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

One, fantasy with no/very little romance.

The Deed of Paksenarion trilogy by Elizabeth Moon. Paks is asexual, so there's no romance in it as a main feature. There may be some among supporting characters, but I don't think there is, it's been a year and I've only read it once, so I'm a little hazy.

The Amber books by Zelazny have a certain amount of sex, but no real romance or pairing-off to speak of. The Lord of the Rings. ..I ought to be able to get you more than that, considering I've been looking for ages too, and yet.

As for the demons... do dragons count? There's always the Dragon Temple Saga! *ducks*

A College of Magics, by Caroline Stevermer. YA/fantasy, has a little romantic feeling as a minor element near the end, but the main focus is academia, magic, and politics. Our heroine is decisive and determined, and the most prominent secondary character is a friend she makes in school, who accompanies her on the political mission that occupies the second part of the book.

Finder by Emma Bull. The two main characters are partners, but no sex and very little/no romance. Just in the deep friendship, caring for eachother sense. It takes place a little int othe future on the border of faerieland and the "human" world in the borderlands where things are a little less "lawful" than either place.
